Reversible and Tunable Second‐Order Nonlinear Optical Susceptibility in PZT Thin Films for Integrated Optics

Second-order nonlinear optical processes enable a wide range of applications used in research and industry. The majority available second-order devices however relies on bulk crystals with low nonlinearity. By exploiting the advancements made integrated optics, materials large nonlinearity can efficient small-sized on-chip at cost. Unfortunately, silicon nitride, mostly for photonics circuits exhibit negligible (χ(2)) alternate have to be investigated. Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films high stand as good candidate An electric-field induced tuning χ(2) is demonstrated here PZT grown glass substrates efficiency 3.35 pm V−2. Strong second-harmonic generation recorded very dominant tensor component χzzz(2) 128 V−1 reported. reversed by poling DC electric field room temperature. This opens avenues highly tunable devices.
